Services
From Blitzed
The Blitzed IRC Network provides its users with services for registering nicknames, sending memos, and channel registration & control. The Blitzed IRC Network provides the software, hardware, and staff to maintain these services. Currently, these are our own customized services. The source of this software is available from our CVS, but is not supported.
The two main services which Blitzed provides are ChanServ and NickServ. ChanServ handles the creation and administration of channels and NickServ allows you to register and administrate your username(s). MemoServ is also available to allow users to send memos to each other.
This is a short guide to aid you in the use of services. If you need additional help, feel free to ask our ops in #help. However, we do ask that you try to use the commands below (and familiarise yourself with them) to find the answers to your questions.
This guide comes in handy for a couple of reasons:
- If you are in need of help and no one is around to help you at that time, you'll have a resource at hand to assist you in your time of need.
- The number of questions you have will decrease as you learn the help commands and how to use them.
Nicknames and channels expire according to the expiry policy.
[edit] Communicating with Services
To communicate to services, you use the /msg command.
/msg chanserv help
In most IRC clients, you may just type slash and the service.
/chanserv help
Or just slash and an abbreviated form of the service name would suffice in most IRC clients.
/cs help
The case of the command you send doesn't matter, with the exception of passwords.
/ChanSERV HeLp
For most commands sent to services, it is required that you are identified first. For information on identifying please see the relevant ChanServ or NickServ page.
