How to fix a split

When you see a split happen, the first thing to do (as it says in many of these documents) is to not panic.
Take a look at the ideal routing plan to see where the split server(s) should be connected to.
Reconnect it/them.
Syntax is:
/quote CONNECT split-server.* 7500 some-hub.*
It is probably best to link the server back to a different hub than the one it just split from. If this doesn't work, just leave it and let auto-connect sort it out.
If client servers are unreachable for more than 10 minutes or so, depool them. This will require you to be in the systems team, or find someone that is.
